Spencer Herr
Spencer Herr is a self taught artist currently living in Asheville, NC. Though born in Kansas, MO, Herr moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 1980. In 2000 he earned his BS from Northern Arizona University. Herr has been inspired by early dutch painters, concrete constructivism, philosophical and spiritual ideas, and anything else that may cause him to question his current esthetic. His use of layering of pencil, charcoal, paint and acrylics on canvas or wood lend to his distinct and unique style. "My work relates to our view of dominion and what we read into it. The letters are part of broader phrases exploring the mystery of relationship with the natural world."
